Procedures Supporting Diversity

• Diversity Management Committee
  The purpose of the Diversity Management Committee is to recommend, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and strategies to promote and support equity and inclusion within the Halifax Regional School Board.  The Commttee meets at least once a month. (Diversity Management Committee Terms of Reference. 2006.)
• Employment Systems Review
  Every five years, the Halifax Regional School Board’s Diversity Management Coordinator will conduct a comprehensive review of the Board’s employment systems. The purpose of this review will be to identify and remove barriers to employment, retention and advancement for employees of designated groups, and identify priorities for improvement. (HRSB.Diversity Management Policy. 2007) . The Board’s Employment Systems Review will identify any barriers for any groups in applying to work at our Board. (HRSB Diversity Recruitment Strategies. 2007).

• Community Outreach
  Recognizing that outreach efforts could be improved, the Board invited twenty-eight (28) community groups to our offices on October 4, 2007 to hear an employment outreach presentation. (HRSB Diversity Recruitment Strategies. 2007).
