Learning

Assessments

The HRSB is constantly striving to understand how our students learn, where there may be gaps in learning, and how we can address these issues in our schools. To that end, the Education Quality and Accountability division of our Program department regularly undertake broad-based student assessments, particularly in the areas of literacy and mathematics.

The assessments help teachers and our school system see how student outcomes align with the provincial curriculum. A close look at individual results provide teachers with the information they need to plan for the wide range of learners in their classroom. Assessments also strengthen the connection between home and school by allowing parents to see how their children are doing in relation to learning outcomes for their grade level.
