Transportation of Items on School Buses

The following is a list of items not permitted on school buses during regular bus runs:

  • The wearing of footwear with cleats and/or spikes
  • Skateboards
  • Roller blades
  • Scooters
  • Large instruments (other instruments must be able to fit safely on the students lap or along side the student and not obstructing the isle).
  • Hockey sticks, Lacrosse sticks, Golf bags
  • Large equipment bags
  • Skis/poles
  • Any pole type object or sticks
  • Large school projects that will not rest easily next to or on the students lap – projects must be approved between the school and the drivers beforehand
  • Pets, live animals, reptiles, bugs etc.
  • Plants, flowers
  • Water guns
  • Open food or drinks
  • Unauthorized passengers
  • Laser Pens/Lights/Pointers

Permitted under conditions listed:

  • Cell phones, camera phones & cameras in a bag
  • Skates guarded and in a bag
  • Baseballs in a bag
  • Lacrosse sticks (in a sports type bag)
  • Marbles must remain in a bag
  • Toys brought on the bus should not be loose

The following is a list of items not permitted on school bus trips:

  • Skis/poles
  • Skateboards
  • Open food or drinks
  • The wearing of footwear with cleats and/or spikes
  • Drum sets

The following items are permitted when the number of passengers is low and the items can be stored safely in bundles and / or stored below seat level:

  • Golf clubs, hockey and lacrosse sticks (in sports type bag)
  • Musical instruments and equipment
  • Large equipment bags
  • Camping gear
